Football Bling

Simon Says Stamp Bling Challenge
                                                                 Merry Christmas!
We are having a quiet Christmas Day preparing for Christmas with our grandchildren tomorrow.

Before I can even put Christmas stamps and supplies away for the year, I have to make birthday cards!  It starts with a friend's birthday on New Years Eve, our son's birthday on New Years Day, his wife two weeks later and two more friends right after that.

Both our son and daughter-in-law are huge football fans.  She has been a Cowboys fans forever.
This card is for her.  It is inspired by Yukari Yoshioka

The shaker window is die cut with a SSS rectangle.
The stamps are from Newtons Nook.  They are stamped on XPress with Memento ink and colored with Copic markers.  The green paper is from Cosmo Cricket . . .  not sure about the stripes.
The football is from The Paper Studio.  Wink of Stella, black gel pen, Stickles and Glossy Accents along with the sequins give a lot of sparkle to the card.

Christmas Crazy Bird

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge (Dies)
I love pattern paper!  (Probably because I was a scrapbooker before I was a card maker. )
I start with the pattern then use the colors in that pattern for my elements.
When I get a new pad of pattern paper, I list the coordinating Copic markers on the cover for easy reference.  Basic Grey is the paper used in this background.
The bird and accessory stamps and dies are by Tim Holtz.  The Merry Christmas die is from Poppy Stamps.  Stickles and Glossy Accents give a little shimmer to the tag.

Shark Christmas Tag

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge (Dies)
                                                                    Tag for Guys
I saw a Christmas card using this Waffle Flower shark and Palm Tree.  I thought it was a great idea for a guy tag!  The tag, candy cane and present are stamps and dies by Tim Holtz.  The sand is die cut with a Lawn Fawn die and embossed with Swiss Dots.  Distress ink is used for sand and tropical sky. The sentiment by Stampinbella is stamped in VersaFine and clear heat embossed.  The shark's teeth and gift glisten with Stickles.    The candy cane shines with Glossy Accents.
It's not your typical Christmas tag but I like it and I know a couple guys who will like it too!

Doggie Christmas Cards and Tags

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge (Dies)
Our dog, Roxie, has a groomer, sitter, friends and relatives who deserve gifts and cards.  This dog stamp (and sentiment) from Inkadinkadoo  actually looks like Roxie!  It's stamped with Memento on XPress and colored with Copics.  The jingle bell border is from Memory Box and die cut from SU silver glitter paper.  The greenery die is from Elizabeth Craft Design.  The label punch is from SU.
Background Pattern paper is from Authentique.  Cardstock is by SU.  Stickles and Glossy Accents give the dog's accessories some bling.

Alpaca my Scarf

                                                     Simon Says Stamp Challenge Dies
This tag will go on a package that really is a scarf!
This background was perfect and it was a scrap!  When I first got my Minc I was experimenting
and this card front didn't turn out so good.  But cut down for tags, it was awesome!
All stamps and dies used for this tag are from Lawn Fawn.  Background is a resist using distress ink and heat embossing.

Magic Donut Apron Tag

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Tags

So this apron tag is made just for P.
The stripe paper is from  echo park.  The cardstock is from SU.
Heart die is from Simon Says Stamp.  Donut Stamp is from Hero Arts.  Little gingerbread men are buttons from Dress It Up.  Peppermint die is from Poppy Stamps.  The gathered ribbon is made by Bazzill.  Sticker letter is a Basic Grey product.

SSS Tag Challenge

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge  Tags
I need a tag for a music teacher.  This Band Camp stamp set from Simon Says Stamp was perfect.
I could even color the uniforms her school colors!  The band members are stamped in Memento on XPress paper and colored with Copic markers.  There pa-rum sentiment is from Lawn Fawn.  The is a background of music notes from Hero Arts.  The music note die is from Paper Smooches on SU silver gimme paper.  Background paper is from Bo Bunny.
While it's not a traditional Christmas tag I think it's really cute!

Day 12 12 Tags of Christmas

Day 12 Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Femine Twist
                                                       Inspiration from Dawn Woleslagle
I've been meaning to order a pen from Heidi Swapp.  Now I really wish I had one!  Without the pen this is my adaptation of Dawn's tag/ornament still using the Minc.
As she taught, I made a stamp from Fun Foam and my Penny Black holly die.  I then put distress ink on the Fun Foam stamp and stamped with it!  I gold heat embossed the sentiment from Ellen Hutson.
I added gold leaves foiled from the Heidi Swapp foil and Minc and the Penny Black die.  The ornament stamp is from Spellbinders.  Watercolor paper makes up the base.  The edges are distressed with gold Delicate ink.
I can't wait to get the pen so I can try Dawn's technique.

Day 11 !2 Tags of Christmas

Day 11 Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist
Sharon Harnist was the inspiration for this tag.
I wanted a tag for my San Francisco kids.  This SU set has what I think could be Victorian houses.
Coloring these houses is a challenge!  With the straight lines and tiny windows, it must be colored with a very steady hand.  The background is distress ink over heat embossed
Sparkle Puff stamped with Lawn Fawn snow.  Santa and reindeer die is by i.o.  The houses have Liquid Appliqué snow and Stickles.
I usually make two tags but there will be only one of this tag.  Those houses are a lot of work!

Day 10 Ellen Hutson 123 Tags of Christmas

12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist Day 10 Sketch Challenge
                          Inspired by Kelly Alvarez

I am addicted to Lawn Fawn!  It is so fun to combine the different sets.  In this case I used Critters in the Arctic, Fantastic Friends (small fish in the shaker), scarf from Snow Day and the For You die.
the pattern paper is from pink paislee.
It's very hard to make cards and tags appropriate for adolescent boys.  I think this works because it's not too cute and not too formal.

Tags of Christmas Day 9

Day 9 of Ellen Hutson's 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist
Today there is a sketch challenge.  Melanie Deasy from Avery Elle was my inspiration.
This tag is for my niece who is a math teacher.  The Avery Elle stamp set is so perfect for her tags and cards!  The little Christmas mice are from Lawn Fawn.  The pattern paper is from Pebbles.
Elements are stamped with Memento on XPress paper and colored with Copic Markers.
I used Stickles and Glossy Accents for some bling and shine.

Textured Snowperson 12 Tags of Christmas Day 8

Day 8 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist Ellen Hutson
Today's focus was texture and non-traditional Christmas colors.  My inspiration for this tag came from  a star snow person tag on pinterest at Annettes Paper Bistro.
The star is die cut from Ellen Hutson's Craft-a-Board from a spellbinders die.  I watercolored it pink and pale peach then generously spread Art Extravagance Snowflake Paste  over the watercolor.
The buttons are from Queen and Co.  The snowflakes are die cut SU white glimmer paper from Lawn Fawn and Memory Box dies.  Lots of fiber, ribbon and even pink pearls add even more texture to the tag.  Cute for a little girl for sure.

12 Tags of Christmas Day 8

12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist Ellen Hutson
There were a couple elements in the challenge today.
2)Using non-traditional colors.
My elf and snowflakes are from a stamp set from MFT.  The elf is stamped in Memento Ink and colored with Copic markers.  The elf's texture comes from the metal of the jingle bell, shimmer of the gold thread, softness of the Flower Soft, smoothness of the pearls and glimmer from Stickles.
The snowflakes are white heart embossed for even more texture.  The fibers add an additional element of texture.
Pattern paper is from Basic Grey.
As for the colors . . .  I don't think I've ever used brown as the dominant color on a Christmas card or tag.

Day 7 12 Tags of Christmas

Day 7 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist
Miriam Partner used Ellen Hutson Elements and sentiment to make her tag on Day 7.
I added Tim Holtz' bell stamp and real jingle bells.   Because the bells are heavy, I used Ellen Hutson Craft-a-Board to stabilize the tag.  I like to make my splatters with Liquid Pearls.  They give me more control than using a brush to make random splatters.

More Glitter

Ellen Hutson 12 Days of Christmas Tags with a Feminine Twist
Now my studio looks like a glitter bomb went off.  Jennifer McGuire, I need you to come here and help clean up with an industrial sized Swifter!!!
Once I had the glitter out I just could not stop trying different dies and different color combos.
There are presents to wrap and food to prepare and guests coming or I would have made even more!
This is the Embellished Ornament die from SU.  The glitters are from Art Institute.  The other information is the same as my previous post.
They are even prettier in person!

Glitter-Day 6 12 Days of Christmas Tags with a Feminine Twist

I have a lot to say about Glitter.  Only Jennifer McGuire could entice me to bring out my box of glitter.  And I have A LOT!  Years ago I took some Holly Berry classes and liked it so much I started teaching Holly Berry classes myself.  One cold snowy winter night I came outside after a class.  The headlights shown on my winter coat.  It was just covered in sparkle!
My husband is not a fan of glitter.  He has one rule . . .  No Glitter in My Food!!!
This is my first try at Jennifer's technique.  Now that the glitter mess is out of the box,  I will try a couple more tags.
I've used a Memory Box die, Sookwang tape and Art Institute glitter.  The last row doesn't show the gradation of color in the photo.

Day 5 Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas

Carissa Wiley posted a tag that featured glitz.  She used the Ellen Hutson stamps for the branches, ornaments and sentiment and I did too.  But I wanted a moose on the tag!!!  Can glitz and a moose go together?  The moose is from Avery Elle.  The ice is from Lawn Fawn.  I did a little paper appliqué
with Basic Grey paper for the sweater.  Glitz comes from Stickles on the ornaments, weather, hat and ice.  Glossy Accents on the boots an gold ribbon, twine and SU gold glitter paper die cut on the sentiment.  The die is from SSS.  I think I'll still add a little more sparkle on the branches!

Day 4 Classroom 12 Days of Christmas with a Feminine Twist

Day 4 of Ellen Hutson'2 12 Days of Christmas Tags with a Feminine Twist
Julia Stainton posted a beautiful snowflake tag that was done almost all in white.  I had been wanting to try an all white card or tag, so here's my version.  The background is embossed with an SU falling snow embossing folder.  The snowflakes are die cut from Spellbinders dies.  The Merry Christmas sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp.  All die cuts are double thickness.  The pretty center embellishment is from SU.
I think this is the first time I've done something that was all white!

Day 3 Holiday Tags with a Feminine Twist

Day Three in the Classroom blog by Ellen Hutson Laurel Beard made a tag in the shape of a mitten.  My mitten die is from Papertrey.  I used white embossing paste tinted with distress ink on the the snowflakes stencil by Studio R12.  SU white glimmer paper is used for the cuff of the mitten.  The fox is from Newton's Nook.  It is stamped in Memento ink and colored with Copic markers.
This tag was designed to co-ordinate with the box.  There are animals including a fox around the base of the box.  (Great box for card makers from Michaels organization section.)

12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist Day 2

On Day 2 of 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist at the Ellen Hutston Website I looked at Dina Kowal's tag and thought about . . .  A BIRD CAGE!!!  (Sometimes my imagination goes in strange directions, but I went with it!!!)  I had just gotten the darling bird dies from Paper Smooches so I needed to play with them right away!  They are die cut from SU gray and silver sparkle papers.
The pattern paper came from my stash and there is no manufacturer indicated on the paper.
I used Stickles on the berries and wings.  The sentiment from Penny Black is die cut with a Spellbinders die.  I wove silver cording to make the wires of the birdcage.

Peace, Love Joy

Simon Says Stamp Let it Snow Challenge
Today Simon Says  Stamp is focusing on one of my favorite companies, Art impressions.
This stamp and die set are from their Window of the World series.  The image is stamped inside the card with Memento ink and colored with Copic markers on XPress paper.  The window is die cut from Bazzill cardstock.  Pattern snowy paper is from Bo Bunny.  I distressed the outside with some silver embossing powder.  A sparkle gel pen brings some silver sparkle to the image inside.

Day 2 Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist
Kitty Caracciolo is my die cut hero!  Her tag in day two post is just beautiful!  My tag was inspired by hers.  The tag is die cut with a Tim Holtz die out of Ellen Hutson Post-a-Board.  The background by Just Rite is silver heat embossed.  The Heartfelt Creations Poinsettia is heat embossed with Wow embossing powder on Pink and pale green Bazzil cardstock.  The edges are distressed with Distress ink.  The Tim Holtz greenery is die cut and distress as well.  The Hero Arts greeting is heat embossed silver on a Spellbinders die.  A bling flourish from Want 2 Scrap and rhinestones complete this feminine tag.

Holly Jolly

Ellen Hutson's annual 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist has begun!!!  I look forward to this every year.  Day One there was a tag by Carolyn Peeler.  That was my inspiration for this tag.
The sentiment is by Ellen Hutson.  It's stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed with white embossing powder on kraft cardstock.  The large holly leaf stamps are from Hero Arts.  They are stamped on watercolor paper with VersaMark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  They holly leaves are then watercolored.  The little girls is a stamp by impress obsession.  I stamped her with Memento ink the colored her with Copic markers.  Holly berried, hat, dress and shoes are Stickled.  The star is punched from SU glitter paper.  Holly leaves at the top are by Jolee.  Lace and velvet ribbon were added.

Warm Hugs

My Favorite Things' color challenge was to use pink, navy, green and white.  These are not normal Christmas colors but I think it works!  The stamp, sentiment and dies are from MFT.    The striped paper is from Making Memories.  Most stamping is done in Memento and colored with Copic Markers.  The tree is stamped with SU ink.
This tag will go on a pink package with a big green bow!!!

                                                                Cute and Whimsical
I love this chubby little Stampingbella mouse that has stuffed an entire candy cane in his mouth!
He's stamped with Memento on Xpress paper and colored with Copic markers.  There is some Stickles on the bell to make it sparkle and Flower Soft on his hat.  The background cardstock is byBazzill and pattern paper by Deja Views.
This tag is for my 18 month grandson.  His parents are constantly dislodging food he's pushed into his mouth way beyond capacity!

Holiday Hugs

Day 9 Online Card Classes Holiday Style
Kristina Werner made a card I just HAD to adapt into a tag!  The background is watercolor with distress ink on watercolor paper.  After it was totally dry I die cut the snowflakes and replaced them with snowflakes die cut from SU white glimmer paper.  The WPlus9 images were stamped with Memento onto XPress paper and colored with Copic Markers.  The sentiment also from the Plus 9 set was white embossed on SU cardstock.  Stickles add sparkle to packages and words.  Flower Soft adds texture and sparkle to the hat.  Glossy Accents give shine to the boots.

Turkey Kit for Kids

                                               Jennifer McGuire Kindness Campaign
                                                        Week 3 Craft with Kids
This craft idea came from the Parenting website.
I have put together a kit including paper cups, self-adhesive google eyes, red punched hearts (for the wattle), large brown pompons and feathers die cut with SU dies.
The kids will construct their own turkeys from these items.

Pumpkin Seed Craft

                                               Jennifer McGuire's Kindness Campaign
                                                          Week 3 focus on Kids
Another Craft to do with kids.  I've died pumpkin seeds with food coloring (in a Ziplock bag with a little white vinegar).   They are sitting on my kitchen counter to dry.
They will be used as leaves to be glued on a trees drawn by my granddaughter and her friends.
I found this idea online by Jesienne drzewko.

Mayflower Craft

                                                 Jennifer McGuire's Kindness Campaign
                                                                 Craft with Kids
This week Jennifer McGuire's Kindness Campaign focuses on kids.  She shows ways to make cards with kids.  I am getting ready to craft with kids!
This idea came from the Parenting website.  The Mayflower is constructed of a coffee cup, the corrugated cup holder, two stir sticks and four rectangles for sails.
I love doing this stuff as much as the kids do!

Foil Smooshing

Online Card Class Holiday Style Day 7
This is the second time I've made this tag.  This time I tried what I will call Foil Smooshing.
Carissa Wiley had what she called a "Happy Accident".  I tried to make that accident happen again!
I dry embossed the cardstock with an Anna Griffin embossing folder.  I ran a VersaMark ink pad over the top layer of the embossing.  I then poured Ranger Sticky Embossing Powder over the VersaMark and used my heat gun to make it sticky.  While it was sticky I put the remnants of foil from Merry Christmas over it and rubbed it with my bone folder.  I love the touch of gold it adds to the tag.

Snow Snow Snow

                                                  Online Card Classes Holiday Style
                                                         Day 7 Shimmer and Shine
There are so many shimmer and Shine products on this one little tag!
Wink of Stella
SU Glimmer Paper
Snowflake Paste
The stamps and Dies fro Papertrey are stamped with Momento and colored with Copic markers.
The Large Snowflakes are stenciled (Studio R12) with Snowflake Paste that has been colored with Peacock Distress refill ink.
The white Glimmer Paper snow hill is die cut with a Lawn Fawn die.

The oval is raised with Ellen Hutson Craft-a-Board.  It's one of my favorite products for die cutting.

The Misti

I watched the videos when Misti came out.  I watched my friends demo it and rave about how useful it is.  I resisted the purchase until I started making holiday cards.  See that sentiment perfectly straight the first time every time?  That's what Misti does!  I've also watched Laura Bassen's video using Misti to mask a complex one-layer card.  I think it was a good purchase.

Joy to You and Yours

Online Card Class Holiday Style Day 3
Kristina Werner showed a vintage card technique with a beautiful WPlus9 Christmas tree stamp which I have ordered.  Meantime I tried the technique with this Northwoods sleigh stamp that has been in my stash for a very long time.  I tried Kraft cardstock, white and ivory.  I tried using more and less distressing ink of various brown tones to age the paper.  On this card I stamped with VersaMark and gold heat embossed the image and sentiment from Penny Black.  Stickles adds some sparkle.   I was so tempted to add a little red but when I tried it took away from the vintage look.

You're so precious to me

Day 5 Online Card class Holiday Style
                                                             Cute and Whimsical Cards
I am the owner of a brand new Minc!  So, of course, the card for today's class HAD to include foiling.  This Simon Says Stamp Tree die was perfect!!!
Inspired by Laura Bassen, I used Distress Ink for the background, masking off the snow at the bottom.  I then white heat embossed the Lawn Fawn snow flakes.  The Lawn Fawn bunnies and gifts were stamped on XPress with Memento and colored with Copic markers.    Stickles were added to the hats and packages.  The sentiment from i.o. (for my grandchildren) is white heat embossed.
I think cute cards are not just for kids.  Adults say "Awww" and love them too!

Wishing you peace

I love the quiet simplicity of this card.  It is the perfect  card for friends and family who have suffered loss or serious illness during the past year.  I can take no credit for the design.  It is a replica of a card posted by Julie Ebersole, the artist who created this Ellen Hutson stamp set and matching dies.  I made my background navy instead of black as she did.  (I like her black background better.)  I used twinkling H2Os to paint the tree.   My sentiment is from Technique Tuesday.   I love her idea of concentrating the snow in the upper left corner so it looks like a blizzard.  The snow dots are cut from a portion of a Lawn Fawn stamp.  This is for Day 2, Inspiration Day, of the Online Card Class Holiday Style.

You're Snow Special to me

Online Card Classes Holiday Style Day 1
Debbie Hughes had so many great ideas for her two card tutorials on Day 1.  I combined ideas from both cards to make this tag.  The background is watercolor resist with both silver and white heat embossing the Sweet and Sassy snow flakes.  (I LOVE the idea of using two different colors of embossing powder!)
Debbie also showed a fabulous way to use my new Misti!  The  Sweet and Sassy clear sentiment can be curved to match the curve of the  Lawn Fawn die cut hill!
The MFT girl sledding is stamped in Memento ink and colored with Copic markers.
The SU silver glitter paper snowflake border is adhered at the bottom of the tag.
Stickles give some sparkle to the tag.

Share Handmade Kindness Week One

Jennifer McGuire is sponsoring a month-long challenge of Sharing Handmade Kindness.
My Paper Crafters Club president has chosen our local Children's Hospital to be her charity this year.
We have send handmade cards to the nurses stations at the hospital.  The nurses then use the cards to encourage kids who need an extra bit of encouragement.  I especially like to make cards for boys.

Let it Snow

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is Anything Goes.
This was inspired by a youtube video by Vicky at Clips n Cuts.  She used this technique to "set in" the die cut words by Penny Black.  Background is distress ink.   The snow flake stamp is also by Penny Black and is heat embossed white.  Gemstones are added to their centers.  The snowman and two kids are from a stamp by Art Impressions.    (I left the third child off as I have just two grandchildren. )   They are stamped with Memento on XPress cardstock and colored with Copics.
Wink of Stella adds glitter to the tag.   Art Impressions' package gives excellent color and shadow ideas.  The hill of snow is hand cut and popped up.

Wonder Woman

Simon Says Monday Challenge is to go back to previous challenges and choose one to make a card.
I liked the challenge of using stamps and dies.  My granddaughter said this was her favorite card!
She has a Wonder Woman costume.  I tried to represent it with this MFT stamp.  The lasso on the belt was what got the attention of my 5 year old.  Since we had just been to NYC together the NYC skyline die from MFT was perfect!    The blue background is done with distress inks.  Wonder Woman is stamped on Xpress paper with Memento ink and colored with Copics.

Dashing through the Snow

Simon Says Wednesday Challenge is to make anything having to do with wrapping.  Perfect for my favorite holiday craft, gift tags!  The shaker portion of the card is made with Paper Smooches die called Retro Arrow with Bo Bunny pattern paper.    The car stamp  and sentiment are from Avery Elle.  The car is embellished with Glossy Accents, rhinestones and Stickles.   The base is cardstock from SU white embossed with Lawn Fawn snowflakes.  Car and tree are stamped with Momento on XPress and colored with Copics.

I'll Huff and I'll Puff

I made this card for both Paper Smooches Anything Goes Challenge and Simon Says Stamps Monster Challenge .  The pigs are from Paper Smooches Green Acres stamp set.  The houses are from Paper Smooches Bitty Bungalows stamp set.  The layers of hills are from Paper Smooches Waves dies.  The sky and grass are done with distress markers then splashed with water.  Pretty Pink Posh sequins put some sparkle in the sky.  Images are stamped in Momento and colored with Copic markers. Glossy Accents, Stickles and Wink of Stela give some shine.  The monster wolf 's sentiment is typed and die cut with a Stampin Up die.

Window of the World

Simon Says Wednesday Challenge is a combination of muted fall colors.
I selected this Art Impressions stamp with it's co-ordinating die called Window of the World.
I stamped the image in VersaMark on Watercolor paper and painted the scene with distress markers mixed with water.  The pattern paper is from Basic Grey.  The sunflower embellishment is from Recollections.
At a recent stamp convention I purchased several Ai stamps that go with this window die.
Themes of birthday, Christmas, even a dog that looks like our Roxie will be fun to try!

Pink Pumpkin

October is National Breast Cancer Month.  This is for a friend who is on her way to cured!
This is for the I Love Sparkle and Shine Challenge.
Stamps are all from Paper Smooches.  They are stamped in Memento ink and colored with Copic markers.  Sentiments are stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  A couple gems make great warts and stickles give her some bling.  This goul is ready to party!

Fireplace/elves Tag

This Christmas Tag is for MFTWSC250 Sketch Challenge.
I used a Prima stencil and embossing paste  on the MFT fireplace die and the background behind the fire.  I rubbed  red Viva Decor Inka Gold over the dry embossing paste.   All other elements are MFT stamped in Memento ink and colored with Copic markers.  Stickles were used when some sparkle was needed.  Background paper is by Basic Grey.  That was fun!  I'm making more of those!

Prima Thankful

Card #2 from the Prima class mentioned above.  I kept the base of the card as taught in class then changed the rest.  I added color with Prisma watercolor pencils and distress ink painted with water.  Of course, gold had to be added with Inka-Gold and Heidi Swapp Color Shine.   The Thankful is die cut in gold shiny paper with a Penny Black die.  All other embellishments are by Prima including that very cool weaving stencil.
