This was one of those cards I thought was finished so many times . . . then I wanted to add one more thing or change a flower color or add leaves. Now I look at it and want to change the placement of one set of leaves! Maybe it will never be finished!

I have an August birthday. Interestingly many of my friends also have birthdays in August.
So I make a lot of birthday cards for girlfriends this time every year.
I saw this card somewhere but cannot find who originated it. It is a CASE with only minor changes.
All of the stamps are from Simon Says Stamp. I used Memento ink and colored with Copics.
Wink of Stella, Stickles and Glossy Accents give some glitz.
Those birds just make me smile.

I think sometimes the universe does something to put it's stamp on a relationship. In this case my grandson was born on my friend's birthday. Two years later her great-grandson was born on my birthday! This card is for him.
I used Distress Oxide ink for the background. A MFT stencil was used to shape the clouds. MFT dies were used to cut the squares. The critters are from Mama Elephant. The balloons come from Hero Arts. Pattern paper is from SU. Finally, the number 1 is from the Cricut Cartridge Base Camp.
Glossy Accents make those balloons shine.

This is a birthday card for an astronomer.
The cute cats are from Newton's Nook. They are stamped in Memento and colored with Copics. Glossy accents are used on the space helmet, space suit and glass on the telescope.
I covered the navy cardstock with silver heat embossed stars and splats of white acrylic paint.
I die cut the balloon then edged it in white pigment ink to make it stand out.
The front panel is popped up.
The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted.
The astronaut is on an Action Wobble that I just can't stop playing with.

I wanted to enter this challenge
I wanted to make an elegant balloon
I wanted to use my new pink Altenew Inks
Here is the result!
I stamped this flower and leaf from Garden Treasure (Altenew) all over the card front with VersaMark and heat embossed them in gold.
I then did layered stamping with Altenew inks.
I die cut the balloon and edged it with gold embossing.
I die cut (Frantic Fran) the word Enjoy from gold paper.
Last I double popped the balloon and tied gold twine around the bottom.
I love this card!!!

That put me into an organizational mood.
I made new swatches for all of my Distress and Distress Oxide Inks using the templates from Jennifer McGuire.
I even reinked every one of my Distress ink pads!
When my new Altenew ink pads come I will do the same thing with them.
That means there are 12 new Altenew inks I will need to make space for. The color swatches will help me compare inks and get rid of the old ink pads that have duplicate colors.
A year ago I had a conglomeration of ink pads and many duplicate colors. (
there must have been 6 different ink pads in a Pool type color . . . my favorite!)
I wanted to focus on just a few brands of ink pads
I chose Altenew because they have four pads for each color going from very dark to very light.
It is impossible to choose graduated colors like that by just shopping on line. Altenew does it for me! And the ink is beautiful to stamp with and beautiful colors.
I have not yet invested in the Altenew reinkers.
I also love the Ranger Distress and new Distress Oxide inks because of the great techniques that are possible with them. The new Oxide inks can also be used to just stamp images! They blend beautifully AND I love the soft suede look they create.
I have all of them and all of the reinkers.
I also have some Hero Arts and Simon Says ink pads. They fill in the color gaps missing from the Altenew inks.
While I have the Distress mini ink pads, I prefer the standard size ink pads. I have some arthritis in my hands. The standard pads are easier for me to hold.
Now with everything so organized and reinked, I can't wait to get back to stamping!

I went to a workshop where we made these notepad holders.
I knew my granddaughter would love to have one to start school.
The plaid and chalkboard are from Lawn Fawn
Critters are a new stamp set from Neat and Tangled
Alphabet stamps are from MFT.
Chalkboard is heat embossed in white. White ink is smeared on the chalkboard.
